New for 2013 is the Thug knife from Buck Knives. This knife is USA made and carries the Buck Knives Forever Warranty. Buck/Hood Thug from the Hoods Woods line is a 7″ drop point 6150 steel powder coated 13″ overall length, weighs 11.6oz, and comes with a Micarta handle. Developed with Karen Hood going in the direction that the late Ron Hood would have taken it, the Thug incoperats the SMS (Shock Mitigation System) in the handle so when you chop with it you dont get the vibration in the handle. This also helps balance the knife and keeps it light. The blade is a modified version of a kukri and has the gimping added on top for grip and a grove in the bottom for your finger so you can choke up on the blade for better control on finer work.
The sheath is made of high quality nylon, is MOLLE compatible, and has a non-removable plastic liner to protect the blade. The sheath can be adjusted so that the knife rides high or low on a persons belt. The sheath has two retention straps, at the very top you have a dome strap and just below that you have a pull tight retention strap. Next you have a clip buckle that can be adjusted by a strap, and under that there is a pocket which has an elastic band that can hold whatever you put in there tight so it won’t move around. Below the pocket we have a velcro strap that can hold down that extra length of the clip buckle strap. At the very bottom we have 6-8 feet of Para cord for tying up anything you might need tied up.
