Just a short little blog to let everyone know about a new book that I found the other day called BACK TO BASICS third edition by Abigail R Gehring. This book has it all for those looking to live the simple life. Part One starts out on how to buy land and then what to do with the land after you buy it. This part goes on to show you how to plan your house. If you don’t what to hire someone to build it for you, you can build it yourself just like the early settlers did with many examples given throughout part one of this book. Many examples are given to teach a person how to cut lumber from logs, clear land, and raise walls of log cabins. My favorite section in part one was called developing a water supply with many tips on how to construct primitive wells to more standard wells. At the end of part one there is a section on fences for the farm, home, pastures, and stockpen. I found part one of this book to be very interesting, some of the sections would be great to try out around the home. Anyone who is a prepper / survivalist should consider this book for part of their library of information. Part one as a whole would be very useful in the event of a grid collapse or major catastrophe. The information is given in a how to format collected from other books and pamphlets.
